Martin Barry (1927-1999) a lifelong resident of Maryland has been one of the East Coast’s most well respected artists for over 40 years. A graduate of Loyola College, he also attended the Maryland Institute of Art and the Schuler School of Fine Art.
Martin’s portfolio contains hundreds of scenes along the East Coast and elsewhere in the United States including:
Maine, Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket , Mystic, CT, NY, Philadelphia , the Jersey shore lighthouses, Annapolis, St. Michael’s MD, Baltimore, Washington DC, Williamsburg, the Chesapeake Bay, DE lighthouses , nautical scenes , Cape Hatteras , Hilton Head and GA.
In addition , his portfolio includes an extensive selection of schools, colleges and universities throughout the United States .
His works are included in many important collections including Johns Hopkins University , Loyola University MD, Baltimore City Hall, the Vatican, and the Jimmy Carter Library, Atlanta.
He received numerous awards including the Loyola College Alumni Laureate award as a distinguished alumnus and the Alpha Sigma Nu National Honor Society. Martin was commissioned by Maryland Governor Harry Hughes to draw an original work that was presented as the state’s gift to the Republic of China .
His son Martin Barry III and daughter Barbara Barry Conover continue to operate the studio and workshop in Towson MD.
